Crochet KeyChain

A keycard holder with a string that leads to a hook and that functions as a keychain. This was completely freestyled. It is a simple envelope design, crocheted in the round.

The Process

I needed a way to hold my keys and my keycard, preferably all together. They keys and keycard function the same way -- they get me into the places I need to get into. So I decided to crochet one. I thought it would be quick, and it was, but I thought it would be faster

So I set out to gather my tools. My sister had bought me some lovely purple yarn for my birthday. It is medium (worsted) yarn and cotton. I decided to use a 5mm hook -- though you might want to use a smaller hook.

So, I set out to make the keychain. I did not use a pattern, this was mostly freestyled. I started by crochetting a chain that was as long as the card's width. Then I started crochetting double crochet stitches into the chain, then flipped to the other side and crocheted down the stage going the other way. Then I crocheted more rows in the round several times until I got to the bottom of the barcode.

At the barcode, I crocheted two double crochet stitches, then crocheted a chain across the top of the barcode, and then two stiches near the end of the barcode, I made a double crochet stitch and put the hook down into the top of the previous row. I finished up by crocheting the a row and then stitching the top of the two rows together.
